Roy Rogers

Tribute Poem to Roy Rogers
by Ed Phillips -- Copyright 1998, All Rights Reserved

Out of the east from Ohio, with the rising sun
Rode this boy from Duck Run
He came ridin' to California with Dad in a pickup truck,
With fruit to pick and a West to tame.
Many came before him and more than a few thereafter,
seeking their fortune and fame.
A mighty Pioneer, Roy Rogers, was his name.
He rode into the movies upon a golden charger,
Trigger, with a palomino mane.
Into the hearts of grownups and children all the same.
A song, a film and memories are all that remain.
Of a might man, Roy Rogers, was his name.
I rode many a trail in dreams with Roy,
My hands on the rein at the movie show.
And now, without me, into the sunset he rides once again.
Astride Trigger, his horse, into a great heavenly plain.
This legend, my pal, Roy Rogers rides into God's domain.
Happy Trails Roy
from all our hearts.

A Little Bit of Humor...

A Real Loss
I don't usually pass on news like this, but sometimes we need to pause and remember what life is about.
There was a great loss recently in the entertainment world.  Larry LaPrise, the Detroit native who wrote the song "Hokey Pokey," died last week at age 83.
It was especially difficult for the family.
They had trouble keeping him in the casket.
They'd put his left leg in and...well, you know the rest.

OK, now I have something strange for you, follow along...

Multiply your age by 2, add 5, multiply by 50, subtract 365.

Now, take that number and add the change in your pocket (or purse) that is UNDER a dollar; add 115.   The first two figures in your answer should be your age, and the last two are the change in your pocket!   Kinda weird, huh? :)

Mentality Test

Don't jump to the answer, just scroll down. Take this test mentally, don't write down your answers, and don't shout them out.

  1. Pick a number from 2 to 9. It can be 2 or it can be 9, or any number in between.
  2. Take that number that you've chosen, and multiply it by 9.
  3. That should give you a two digit number. Take those two digits and add them together.
  4. Take the resulting number and subtract 5 from it.
  5. Take that number and correspond it to the alphabet,  numbering the letters. A =1, B=2, C=3, D=4, and so on.
  6. Take your letter, and think of a country that begins with that letter.
  7. Take the last letter in the name of that country, and think of an animal.
  8. Now, take the last letter in the name of that animal, and think of a color.

But remember...

There are no ORANGE KANGAROOS in DENMARK.
