Art Thief
Recently a guy in Paris nearly got away with stealing several
paintings from the Louvre. However, after planning the crime, getting in and out past
security, he was captured only 2 blocks away when his Econoline van ran out of gas. When
asked how he could mastermind such a crime and then make such an obvious error, he
replied:
(scroll down)
(brace yourself)
(this is going to hurt)
(really badly)
(I warned you)...
I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh."

You Don't Want to Know
In the artistic world, sometimes
it's better not to inquire too much.
An artist asked the gallery owner if there had been any recent
interest in his paintings which happened to be on display.
"I have good news and bad news," the gallery owner
replied." The good news is a gentleman inquired about your work and wondered if it
would appreciate in value after your death."
"What did you say?" questioned the artist.
"When I told him it would, he bought all 15 of your
paintings."
"That's wonderful!" the artist exclaimed. "What's
the bad news?"
"The gentleman was your doctor."

A feisty little old lady was among a group looking at an art exhibition in a newly opened gallery. One of the contemporary
paintings caught her eye, and she inquired of the tour guide, "What on
earth is that?"
He smiled condescendingly. "That, dear lady, is supposed to be a
mother and child."
"Well, then," snapped the little old lady, "why isn't it?"

The Attraction
The artist tried to concentrate on his work, but the attraction he felt for his model finally became irresistible. He threw down his palette, took her in his arms and kissed her.
She pushed him away. "Maybe your other models let you kiss them," she said.
"I've never tried to kiss a model before," he swore.
"Really?" she said, softening, "How many models have there been?"
"Four," he replied, "A jug, two apples, and a vase."

CHINQUA WHERE? The Spirit of Rural America, 1947-1955
This illustrated, hardcover book by Fred B. McKinley portrays the "humorous exploits, misadventures and shenanigans" of a youth while growing up in the backwoods community of Chinquapin, Texas (San Augustine County) during 1947–1955. While it is mainly intended as entertainment for the general reader of any age, including children, CHINQUA WHERE? also poignantly describes the disappointments associated with rural family life, regardless of region. These stories—social history and humor at its best—could have happened most anywhere in Americana during that particular era. Fans of the 40s and 50s should well identify with the characters and described events.
